Interesting post. I’m sure that if search engines didn’t exist that we’d be using something else but at this point in time nothing can completely replace a search engine even the biggest of the social media sites.

I don’t think “search” is the keyword these days, either… it’s more “social” than anything.

Now the question is, can we make search social?

Interesting experiment… I’m pretty sure that I couldn’t not use search. I could see maybe someone who isn’t very computer savvy/dependent being able to survive w/out it, but even those people know how to “google” something. Whoever you talked to about search engines being dead is a moron, no matter how smart he is.

Didn’t miss much. It’s not like search is great for discovering recent events… that’s what RSS is for. It’s really only a tool for when you need to “search” for something, which I don’t use all that much myself.
